The first phase of Have a Heart Paisley's Health Check initiative will soon be underway.
Every 45-60 year old in Paisley will be receiving an invitation to attend a free heart health check and the first group of Buddies will get their letters in just a few weeks time.
"Obviously we can't see everyone at exactly the same time, so we are |

phasing the health checks over the next few months," explained Marjorie Gaughan, Have a Heart Paisley Project Manager. "The checks will be run by Have a Heart Paisley nurses and can take place in the participant's home, local community venue or a GP surgery.
The aim of the initiative is to help local people measure their risk of developing heart disease.
"It's a sad fact that even though heart disease is still responsible for around 1 in 3 deaths in Paisley, it can usually be avoided by taking some simple steps. That's why it's so important to know if you're at risk and to get help to reduce the risk," said Marjorie.
In addition to the help offered at the Heart Health Checks, some participants will also get the opportunity to have ongoing support from their own personal coach!
Have a Heart Paisley is looking for 1000 volunteers to take part in a special trial service for the people of Paisley. The service links individuals with their own personal health coach, who will help them make the changes they need to improve their heart health.
"These changes could be anything from eating more healthily to getting more physically active - both of which have a big impact on heart health," said Marjorie. "Everyone will use the service differently, according to the changes they want to make. However, we'll be asking that everyone 'check-in' at least 3 times over the 12 month trial period. This will allow us to identify any changes in both their health and lifestyle."
Only those attending the initial health checks will be eligable for the health coaching service, so it's important to look out for your invitation letter.
Have a Heart Paisley is holding a number of information sessions at venues across Paisley, where people can ask questions and get more information about the health checks. These are at:
