Learning Network

The dissemination of lessons learned is central to Have a Heart Paisley activities.

The Heart Health Learning Network (HHLN) plays a key role in this activity.

The aim of the HHLN is to blend emerging lessons from the project with other pieces of work throughout Scotland and beyond in order to guide future policy, practice and evidence, in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and other health issues.

The Heart Health National Learning Network is managed by NHS Health Scotland.  It is allied to

Have a Heart Paisley and has two key strands of work. Strand 1 aims to identify key outputs and lessons emerging from the project, and co-ordinates the national dissemination of these through a variety of mechanisms. These include Have a Heart Paisley publications, the HHLN Website and database and a series of Learning Days which will combine lessons learned from previous activities with plans and emerging lessons from current work. Strand 2 aims to combine learning from Have a Heart Paisley with other local, national and international evidence to inform future Heart Health research, policy and practice in Scotland. In 2003, three expert groups, focusing on priority areas smoking, physical activity and healthy eating, reviewed evidence, identified areas of current practice in Scotland and made recommendations for action at a local level. These recommendations were circulated nationally for consultation before being presented at the National Heart Health Conference in March 2004. This work has been collated in a central resource and is available on the Heart Health website.

The Heart Health Learning Network website plays a central role in the dissemination process and provides the main access to Have a Heart Paisley lessons and materials. A number of ‘Learning Templates’ have been produced which display the key areas of learning already gathered. Also available on the website is a wide range of materials produced throughout the project such as reports, presentations and journal articles. For further information, please click here
